“A friend you hadn’t seen in ages. A book you didn’t want to open. The fate you never knew you had.”

Between the Lines  is a modular table-top scenario using the Dread RPG ruleset that begins in the modern time at a Halloween party, but soon abstracts into dangerous, fantastical locations all based on fairy tales. Inside you will find the following:

  • Complete Scenario in an easy to digest PDF including:
    • Five unique character archetypes, each with a "home" setting and in depth questionnaire.
    • A modular format that gives you more control over your game.

What is Dread?

According to the official website: "Dread is a game of horror and suspense. Those who play it participate in a mutual telling of an original macabre tale. You will take on the role of someone trapped in a story that is only as compelling as it is hostile–someone who will find themselves making the sorts of decisions you hope never to face in real life."

How do I play?

Dread only requires a block tower, similar to a classic Jenga®  tower. The creators have graciously created cheat sheet guides for free on their website, and they also have a full ruleset book with instructions and templates for sale.

What's the catch?

No catch! I am releasing this, because I enjoyed playing it with my friends. It is still a work in progress, so I will be continually making revisions until its official release. I am extremely open to constructive criticism, so please feel free to comment here if you play this with your friends!
